The art of bespoke at J.P. Hackett No.14 Savile Row

Every bespoke suit we make takes around eight weeks from start to finish, and more than 80 hours of painstaking handwork

Hackett fashion brand at No.14 Savile Row: Bespoke, luxury Made-to-Measure Tailoring.
A bespoke suit is a unique garment; flattering, sophisticated and extremely personal to its owner.

At Hackett, we take great care to ensure that your visit to us is everything an experience with a modern British tailor should be. Here are some of the touches that set our bespoke service apart, and what to expect when you visit J.P. Hackett No.14 Savile Row.

1. Meticulous service

All of our bespoke customers are greeted with a drink and the chance to unwind in our Clubroom. Our Head Cutter will be on-hand to talk through the requirements for your new suit and any details you have in mind. This conversation will guide the tailoring process throughout.

2. A truly personal garment

As you configure your suit, every detail is carefully refined. Choose from a single or double-breasted silhouette, the shape of the lapels, the number of buttons to fasten, the pockets, vents, cuffs, and the style of your trousers or waistcoat too. Our cutter will gently walk you through the process, steering you towards the details that will best flatter your figure.

3. A paper pattern, drafted by hand

A bespoke suit is cut by hand to a customer’s unique pattern, which is drafted using between 30 and 40 measurements taken at this first consultation. It’s a process that Savile Row has relied upon for centuries.

4. Eighty hours of painstaking work

A single bespoke suit takes around six to eight weeks to make. Whether our Cutter striking your pattern by hand with his shears, or our Coatmaker tailoring the jacket’s lapels, chest and collar, more than 80 hours of handwork go into each garment at JP Hackett No.14 Savile Row.

5. Three fittings for a flawless finish

The bespoke process is exacting, and the suit will be fitted to you and adjusted at three different points in the process to ensure that it sits on your body as smoothly and comfortably as is possible.

6. Considered details, beautifully executed

Your suit will also pass through the hands of our Finisher. Buttons and buttonholes will be sewn by hand, as will the delicate topstitching that runs along the jacket’s lapels, pocket flaps and front edges. No detail is too small, and everything is considered.

7. Modern British tailoring, true to Savile Row tradition

Following a final press with a steam iron, your suit will be ready for collection at No.14 Savile Row. At once contemporary and timeless, each Hackett bespoke suit is truly unique; a reflection of your own personal taste and our signature British style.
