Summer Sporting
The spirited outdoor activities you should try this summer You’ve endured several soggy winter months indoors, filling time growling over a monopoly board or sat in bars and restaurants as the rain crashes down outside. Now, as we stride confidently into the summer months, it’s time to remind your nose of the smell of grass and your feet that they can in fact do more than walk to the office coffee machine back. Game face at the ready gentlemen, because we’re about to explore the four summer sports you’ve always wanted to try.
Croquet
Dating back to the 1800s, croquet is quite possibly the most wonderfully quintessential game that Britain has to offer the world. Simple in its form, it grants enjoyment to those of any age or skill level as long as you have a fair square footage of grass, and well, a croquet set. Everything you need for a leisurely day of laughs in the sunshine.
Paddleboarding
A rare board-reliant sports that doesn’t leave its participants requiring recuperation time afterwards. Whether you’re overseas, on the coast or in the capital, take to placid waters and enjoy some smooth sailing and a refreshing dip (whether intentional or not). A sport to tick off your summer bucket list and suited to anyone willing to get a bit soggy.
Rock CLimbing
The gallant sport in which to put your strength and nerve to the test. Few sports hit that primal weak spot nearly as much as rock climbing, with it’s naturally formed ‘equipment’ and vigorous, testing nature. So strap in, chalk up and ascent to your victorious peak. The outdoor sport for those of you who don’t mind a acquiring some scrapes and breaking a serious sweat.
Horse Riding
Dating all the way back to our prehistoric ancestors and carried through to the likes of modern day sporting, horse riding is by no means a new pursuit. Widely recognised as a gentrified pastime enjoyed by the likes of Britain’s aristocracy, there as fewer sports that admit such history and long-served enjoyment. A great way to add a twist to your standard country ramble. Saddle up, gents!
