PLACES TO DRIVE FROM LONDON

Buckle up and escape the city with these destinations drivable from London.

Eastbourne

With a pier, Victorian-inspired buildings and beach huts lining the coast, Eastbourne is every bit as vibrant as Brighton. Set up camp at the town’s iconic Grand Hotel and tackle some of the area’s scenic walks.

Chipping Norton

Chipping Norton is associated with high-profile residents, but there’s a lot more to it than that. Growers and farmers hawk their wares at the local market, the historical Blenheim Palace boasts 2,000 acres of parklands and Soho Farmhouse provides the perfect place to gather your thoughts.

New Forest

Although it’s only an hour and a half drive from London, the New Forest couldn’t feel further away from the big city. Sheltered woodlands and vast grazing lands are home to free-roaming deer, ponies, donkeys and native flora and fauna, while the land is interspersed with thatched cottages and small villages.

Margate

The seaside town of Margate has enjoyed a renaissance over the past couple of years. Aside from amusement park Dreamland, which underwent a refurbishment in 2015, Margate boasts the Turner Contemporary Gallery a salt water tidal pool and a host of restaurants, seafood or otherwise.
